Construction of a 15/0.4 kV Transformer Substation

About the Project

We completed the comprehensive construction of a containerised 15/0.4 kV transformer substation for a rapidly growing production facility in Bytom. The existing low-voltage supply from the grid was insufficient for the increasing power demand, so the investor decided to build a dedicated transformer substation with a medium-voltage connection.

The project encompassed the full scope of works — from obtaining connection conditions from TAURON Distribution, through the detailed design, to delivery, installation and commissioning of the substation. We used a containerised transformer substation with a 630 kVA oil-immersed transformer and SF6-insulated MV switchgear. The LV switchgear with 12 outgoing feeders was designed to accommodate the future expansion of the facility and a 200 kWp photovoltaic installation.

The 350 m MV cable line required a road crossing executed using horizontal directional drilling (HDD), which avoided the need to excavate the road surface. All works were completed within 10 weeks, and the technical acceptance with TAURON Distribution representatives passed without any remarks.
